… a recipe:
Chocolate cake:
3 eggs separated
1 1/4 glass flour
3/4 glass sugar
~1/2 glass oil
3/4 glass hot water
24 g cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder (I used less)
~2 teaspoons of ginger
Frosting:
1,5 cups white sugar
0,5 cup water
2 egg whites
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (I did it without the extract)
Method :
– Sift flour, baking powder and salt together
– Mix cocoa and hot water and allow to cool
– Combine egg yolks, oil, sugar, vanilla and cocoa mixture
– Add this to dry ingredients and mix well.
– Whip egg whites till stiff and fold lightly into mixture.
– Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 C for 40 to 45 minutes.
-For the frosting, combine sugar and water in a saucepan.
-Cook until candy thermometer reaches 242 degrees F (115 degrees C) or until a teaspoon of mixture dropped into cold water forms a ball when removed from water.
-Add cream of tartar and a pinch of salt to the egg white, and beat them until stiff.
-Add hot syrup in a slow stream, beating constantly. Stir in vanilla.
